Men's Ugly Christmas Sweaters

A men's ugly Christmas sweater should be funny without being a costume, and comfortable enough that you keep it on all night. Ours are designed in-house and knit in an ultra soft acrylic yarn: light-up designs, Fair Isle knits, cardigans, and a handful with a working drinking game or a set of beer holsters built into the front. Sizes run S to 4XL right across the range, with 5XL on about half the styles, so big and tall means the same designs as everything else.

Men's Ugly Christmas Sweaters

Funny, Light-Up and Big and Tall Christmas Sweaters

The best men's ugly Christmas sweater is the one that gets a laugh on the way in and is still comfortable four hours later. That is a harder combination than it sounds, and it is most of what we think about. Every design here is drawn in-house and knit in an ultra soft acrylic yarn — a real sweater, not a picture of one printed on fleece.

The cool ones, the funny ones, and the ones with games on them

Some of ours are genuinely handsome. The Dark Fair Isle Rudolph and the Christmas Cowboy Cardigan pass as an actual sweater until someone looks closely, which makes them the safe pick for an office party. Others are not trying to be subtle: light-up designs like the Leaky Roof Light Up sweater, the Yuletide Tassels Light Up sweater and the Santa Slice Light Up sweater come with batteries included. And a few are functional party equipment — the Drinking Game sweater has a working spinner on the front and the Jolly Juice Dispenser does exactly what it says. The Naughty or Nice reversible sequin sweater is the sneaky play: a second punchline after everyone has judged the first. Our funny Christmas sweaters are where the sharpest jokes live.

How to pick the right one

Work out the room first. If there is any chance of a photo going on a company channel, take the Fair Isle or the cardigan. If it is a friends' party, spend the risk budget — a light-up or an interactive design will be the most photographed garment there. If there is a contest, movement wins: light, sequins and reveals beat detail you have to walk over to read. And if the joke needs to go further than that, we keep it clearly separated in naughty Christmas sweaters so nobody arrives at the wrong risk level by accident.

Why one sweater usually isn't enough

Most guys need two, and it's not an upsell — the office party and the boys' holiday night out call for very different sweaters. One should be the unassuming classic print that reads as festive from across the conference room and only reveals itself up close. The other can be as irreverent as you like. Ours run from slightly corny to genuinely indefensible, and both ends have their place on the calendar. The light-up Christmas sweaters keep a party going on their own, and the interactive Christmas sweaters turn you into the evening's entertainment — literal games knitted onto your torso.

Sizing, including big and tall

Every style runs S through 4XL, and about half go up to 5XL, so big and tall means the same designs rather than the two nobody else wanted — the Leaky Roof Light Up big and tall sweater is the same sweater, properly cut. Reviewers report our sweaters fit as expected, so order the size you usually wear; go up one only if you want room to layer a shirt underneath. Most styles are hand wash or dry clean — check the care note on the sweater you choose, and take the battery pack out of a light-up style before cleaning it.

Turning up together

Twenty-four of these designs — about a third — have a women's counterpart, so a couple can run the same joke in two sizes. The Santa Unicorn and the Gaudy Garland both have a women's version; send her to women's ugly Christmas sweaters for the other half, or see the whole range in one place in our ugly Christmas sweaters collection. Orders ship from our warehouse within one business day, with guaranteed overnight at checkout if the party arrived faster than your planning did.

Comfortable enough to outlast the party

Ours are knit in a soft, high-quality acrylic and cut roomy and stretchy, so you can work your way through the snack table and still be comfortable three hours later. That's the whole point of an ugly Christmas sweater over a button-down: you get to be the best-dressed and the most comfortable person in the room simultaneously. And since every design is ours, you're the conversation piece wherever you wear it — whether that's a Santa doing something he shouldn't, a knitted-on beer holster, or a full light show.

What is considered a mens ugly sweater?
A mens ugly sweater is any Christmas-themed sweater that could be considered in bad taste, tacky, or gaudy. The general consensus is that the more embellishments - tinsel, reindeer, Santa Clauses, candy canes, elves, presents, etc. - the uglier the sweater. Mens ugly sweater really just means tacky - anything you know you'll get attention for, in maybe not the best of ways. Sometimes these Christmas sweaters for guys are really just funny more than they are ugly. Ugly Christmas sweaters have become so popular that the term spans many different kinds of designs, some sweaters with nothing tacky or actually ugly about them at all.

Can you wear Christmas sweaters for guys after Christmas?
Christmas sweaters for guys can be worn anytime after Thanksgiving Day and time during Christmas time, which includes Christmas Day and Night. That's why we create soft, high-quality ugly Christmas sweaters - you'll have a long holiday season to put it to good use. The chilly weather will be here for a while, and you'll need an assortment of Christmas sweaters to wear out to the many holiday parties that lie ahead. Go ahead and wear your mens ugly Christmas sweater all the way up until New Years Day.

What size men's ugly Christmas sweater should I order?
Order the size you normally wear. Our sweaters run S to 4XL, with 5XL on many styles, and reviewers overwhelmingly report they fit as expected, so there is no need to size up by default. Two exceptions: if you want to layer a button-down underneath, or you are between sizes and prefer a roomier fit, go up one. Every product page has a sizing guide with actual measurements if you want to be certain.

What's the difference between a Christmas sweater and a Christmas sweatshirt?
A sweater is knit; a sweatshirt is a printed fleece garment. Everything in this collection is a genuine knit sweater in acrylic yarn, which is why the details are stitched in rather than printed on. If you are after the sweatshirt version instead, that is a different collection — see Christmas sweatshirts.

How do the light-up sweaters work?
Batteries are included, and the pack tucks into an inside pocket with a switch you can reach through the sweater. They run all evening on one set. Two practical notes: take the battery pack out before cleaning, and check the care label — most of our sweaters are hand wash or dry clean only rather than machine washable.

Can I wear one of these to the office Christmas party?
Depends which one. Plenty here are straightforwardly funny and fine anywhere — the Fair Isle knits and cardigans in particular read as a real sweater. Others are pointedly not office material, and we keep those clearly separated in naughty Christmas sweaters and inappropriate Christmas sweaters so you can choose your risk level deliberately.

When is National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day?
The third Friday in December, which in 2026 falls on 18 December. It is the one day a year the sweater needs no justification, and worth knowing if your workplace runs something for it — most people order the week before and the best sizes are gone by then.

Are any of your Christmas sweaters officially licensed?
Four properties, officially: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Bumble, A Christmas Story and Gremlins. Those are licensed designs, not lookalikes. The rest of the collection is original artwork from our own design team, which is the reason you can wear one to a party and not meet three other people in it. We do not carry Grinch.
